INCOVERTIBLE GRASP (QUIT COMPLAINING, START WORKING) BY SOPHIE

Ever wondered how sweet it will be if everyone stands to create a better today and a marvelous tomorrow? Rather than stay hidden at a dark corner waiting for the precious angel that would emerge and save us from the drought we put ourselves in?

Most time the thoughts that consumes my mind majorly are on when we will start standing up for something rather than just laying around giving complaint without having anything to do to that thing we always complain about, it breaks my mind to watch people grumble on what the government is suppose do and what not! Not understanding the fact that we are the government.

For so long, we have forgotten how to make things happen, we only recall how to express resentment towards things not done properly and sometimes we are in that position to do that the right! I see people soar and fall because they get tired or they don't want to and truly that's where our power comes from. If we stand for something together the result would be in comprehensive rather than just sitting around condemning what one can't do.

Empowering of one another is a massive tool to build a nation rather than complaining of hardship that faces the country, you have that power and you know it, yet all you do is lash out at government.

You have ideas, resources and you not doing anyone any good why not get your butt up and do something?? Yeah! The right thing

Why not put something worthwhile on the table rather than blasphemy! I’m not facing you without finance or ideas but if you are part of the "condemners" then bring something too, if you have something worth it, put it down, meet people, talk to people, we can't just sit around waiting! The wait won't be over I telling you.

Let's face reality, people give different perception of our economy but all they can give is just conscious talk, they just say and wait until something positive comes in, you don't need to be famous before you can do something benefiting for your nation, you don't have to be rich to start-up something good that would lead you to greatness, start from helping a family survive during this drought then the nation. I’m not in support of treacherous acts but I definitely support good government which begins with you and me. What we fight for is definitely what we become.

One can't just sit and watch, while waiting for a great nation, we have to fight and stand for something, because if we don't fight for something we would most fall for anything! Don't just sit and complain, take actions. Today's action determines Tomorrow's greatness.

CHAINED: THE YOUTH CALL. (OUR MUMU DON DO) BY SOPHIE LAWAL.

The invisible shackles that's tied to our soul, isn't as shattering at heart than those fake smiles we chose to mask around, making the world believe the smile is not just a cover for the pain felt, disguising how we really feel and face pain daily.

It's all hidden beneath that smile, our fears, but; what are we left with? Isn't it anything but hope? Hope for a greater tomorrow? Hope for a transparent and tranquil tomorrow? Isn't it all we seek for? Are we going to get that which our soul so seek for?

Our souls are sealed away with propaganda, we know what we are faced with, yet we still face it, because we are fighters, aiming for a cause and determined to get through, yet we put ourselves through what we are facing, the situation we are in, we put ourselves in it, we choose to believe what they feed us.

The darkness we are in we created it all by ourselves, it's hard to escape from it, we don't make this mistakes, we know quite well what we are in and blame it on them when they reach the height of their position, but didn't we know that before bringing them in? We know what we want before going for it, because the power lies with us.

Most times, we know how wrong we are, but still go for it, cause of what we are getting now and then not thinking of what we would be getting NEXT! The future....

Now, it’s heartbreaking and terrifying to think of all we could have been but we are not still. Its saddening cause we are supposed to stand as one great nation but our leaders are standing as great ones all by themselves. The clattering sound of the chains as they drag through our soul is everywhere, surrounding our inner thoughts but we choose to ignore it. Why? What would I say I smell at that? Fear! It’s creating a thick fog around us that it’s not long before we see that, because I fear what we are becoming.

Nations are supposed to rise at our feet not squirm or feel disgusted when our name is called but we have prevailed them by giving them false image of us not what we really are. All these are chained down to our soul.

The inflation pressure have done nothing but hit the soul of people and we, still in this pain, the problem still rises yet it is not worked on; no improvement. The feeling of abandonment is slowly creeping in and can't be comprehended, yet we are still smiling. I say, it is a pain that's chained to our soul that dwells deep but still not burning. I fear a day would come where the fear would eat up every inch of our soul, take over all and the soul would be left not without being shattered.

The turbulence that squash our heart are terrible yet they feel nothing like none of it, because they are not in it, they were never on it and would never be in it, but still they give us false assurance and nothing seems to be elevated yet our soul is chained daily. The same hope that kept our forefathers is what is still keeping us, yet we are still turning in the same circles as they had turned.

The clock is ticking faster and faster as the day goes by; where are we heading to? It isn't clear? But we are still going to keep hoping. We have to keep our heads high above to reach out for our ultimate goal, because what we have, we don't know. Peradventure we do, but we can't be stuck in a place for too long, we are doing nothing but harming the pretty soul, we need to break free from them and drop that chain off our soul, we need to do it together with our voice, The Youth Call.

8 STEPS TO BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL MODEL.

Becoming a model is somewhat difficult especially in this part of the world, but I believe that after this blog post, we will be armed with information on what to do and break out as a big model.

Being a previous face model and working at my own modeling academy, I get asked all the time, “What are the steps to becoming a model?” I’m always happy to answer as I had to learn the hard way myself and want to tell everyone else the right way to go about it.

The modeling world is one of the most competitive, hardest and possibly dangerous industries to enter into as a career if you don’t know the right steps to take.

Many people are willing to take advantage of young females looking to make it famous with their looks.

On the other hand, there are quality agencies out there that can be hard to get into or accepted to if girls aren’t aware of what steps to becoming a model are necessary.

CHECK OUT THESE ESSENTIAL STEPS.

1. KNOW YOUR NICHE:

One of the most important steps to becoming a model is knowing your niche.

What does this mean?

Well, for starters, depending on the area you live in, certain trends and looks are more popular than others.

For instance, runway modeling and fashion show modeling are not as widespread as commercial modeling for print occasions like magazines, newspapers and store sales papers.

Also knowing your niche will help you know what look the agencies around you are looking for.

Living in a suburban area, agencies aren’t looking for that sleek, ultra-sexy look with overstated hair or makeup like bigger cities are.

In fact, the more natural look is actually preferred in suburban areas, while trendier, sleek looks are wanted in the city.

If your look doesn’t fit your niche, move to an area that does, or consider traveling back and forth to an area that does.

Also know whether you’re auditioning for a niche that advertises petite sizes, plus sizes, certain clothing trends, or for a targeted market like natural living, city trends, cosmetic companies, etc.

2. FIND A GOOD MODELING FAMILY (AGENCY):

The best thing you can do for yourself is to find a good agency to work with.

Agencies should not ask for money up front, or be sketchy in terms of signing anyone possible, which could mean that they run off with the models' earnings later.

A good agency should understand your personal needs as a model, lift you up, and never take money from you.

They should also never ask you to put yourself in a dangerous or compromising situation.

3. GET ENLIGHTENED:

One of my top tips for becoming a model is to be aware of what you’ll face.

Know that girls can be cut-throat, the wrong agencies may ask you to sacrifice your morals, integrity or beliefs just to obtain certain photos, and know that it can be a very tiring job.

Also be aware that the idea of modeling is not to give you fame, but instead to create certain wanted look by photographers and companies.

You may be asked to cut or color your hair, wear an outfit you don’t like, or spend endless hours traveling to the right photo shoot location just for one shot.

You may also be on set for anywhere from 8-12 hours or even more.

Know ahead of time that the point of using a model is to create the right photo.

Many photographers, agencies and product campaigns put the photo goal ahead of the model’s needs.

4. NEVER LOOSE YOUR VALUES.

Many girls who don’t intend on compromising their values end up doing so if they don’t know ahead of time just what their values are.

Don't ever sacrifice yourself to be a model.

The modeling world can be laced with drugs, alcohol, sex-trades, rape, greed and more if you get in with the wrong crowd, which is easy to do when you're looking for a quick route to fame and fortune.

Never do anything it takes to get to the top.

I can promise you that you’ll regret it later and this is the number one reason I left the industry.

Outside of local modeling gigs, most outlets for modeling lead to sketchy, compromising situations.

Know your values and stick to your guns!

On the other hand, the right agencies will honor your values and can lead you to a great career.

5. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE:

Don’t expect to walk into a modeling agency, do a few twirls and expect them to sign you.

Having worked in an agency, I can tell you anywhere from 10-20 people a day walked through the doors unexpectedly asking to meet with the owners of the agency.

Agencies are extremely busy and usually have girls fill out paperwork and submit photos for review.

They almost never see girls by just walking in.

Know this ahead of time and get some practice behind your belt.

If you do get called in for a meet and greet, you need to keep your look casual, yet also have a confident walk and not look fake.

Practice, practice, practice

6. HEAD SHOT IS BAE.

When it comes to the modeling industry, you won’t get anywhere without a good head shot to get you started.

Have someone you know or a photographer take a natural head shot of you.

No photo-touching, hardly any makeup, and simple hair should be the top three key points of your photo.

I’m serious, girls!

Modeling agencies hate Photo shopped pictures, makeup, fancy hair styles, or overdone looks.

They want to see you in the raw to see if you could transformed into a variety of looks.

Remember, you're pretty just as you are, so let those agencies see you for you!

Most importantly, no Glamour Shot photos!

7. KNOW THE ODDS.

The modeling industry is one of the hardest careers to achieve and maintain.

Most models who haven’t been modeling up to age 22 are almost guaranteed they won’t make it in the runway industry unless they seek out commercial modeling options, which I’m actually fonder of anyway.

You don’t need to be a certain size to model, nor do you need to look a certain way.

You just need to know what the odds are in the market you’re in.

If you don’t look like a runway model, that’s fine!

I’m only 5’6” so I was never able to be a runway model and I actually preferred more commercial outlets like cosmetic or clothing shots, or even better, magazine ads and covers, to work in.

Know the odds of what you face in terms of the area you live, what your look has to offer, and how hard each specific outlet for modeling is, such as commercial or runway.

The most important thing you can do to become a model is to be yourself!

Never change who you are on the inside or outside to make someone else happy.

Modeling can be a great way to gain self-confidence and can help you make money on the side of a regular day job.

Never sacrifice yourself, your values or your self-esteem to do so!

The last but not the least,

8. GO FOR TRAININGS.

Most models won't ever go for trainings, they prefer cut and join modeling.

How do you become better when you are never ready to learn or get knowledge?

Going for training put you at an edge over other models.

These steps will lead you to being a successful and happy model.

Have you ever modeled or wanted to?
